Christmas Tree

I haven’t put up a tree since Bob passed so the last one we had up was in 2014 and he took it down after his diagnosis in January 2015. Last year I really didn’t care to do anything and was kind of like that this year too. My mother in law gave me a small table top tree that I put on our kitchen table and I was just going to be fine with that.

A couple people came over the other night for pizza and beer. The two guys are ones that Bob worked with. Bill saw the police photo of Bob I had that was leaned up against the wall and asked if I wanted that hung. I was going to hang it earlier in the day but decided to wait because I didn’t know if it was too heavy for the nails I had. Anyway, Bill got it hung and it looks great. Bill and Doug asked if there was anything I needed help with and of course I can’t think of anything even though there are things that could be fixed. My job now is to make a list of things that need to be done around the house and they along with some others will take care of it.

Yesterday my friend Kris texted saying sorry she couldn’t make it the night before for pizza and beer but also asked if I was ready for Christmas or needed anything. I said we were good. She then asked if I had a tree and decorations and obviously I didn’t have them up so I said no. Well I have a feeling Bill told her I didn’t have a tree up, lol. Anyway she came by this morning with an extra tree she had and some lights and the kids helped us put together the Christmas tree. I really didn’t know if I wanted one up or not but now that it’s up I’m glad she brought it over. The boys had so much fun helping and they’re so glad to see we have a Christmas tree now. It’s things like this that I need to remind myself of, even if I didn’t want to deal with the tree it’s good for the boys to have and to try to get back into tradition and routine with putting one up every year. The smiles on their faces was so good to see.

I seriously have so many amazing people in my life and it’s all thanks to Bob.
