Gender Reveal

When we first found out we were pregnant Erik knew he wanted to do some sort of gender reveal. I didn’t know how I felt about that, I didn’t do one with either of the boys because I’m not sure it was a thing then and I didn’t know if I’d be able to wait. I figured though that since this was Erik’s first and only kid that I’d let him decide what to do.

We wanted to do the reveal already but with the weather being back and forth lately and the reveal having to be done outside we had to wait longer. On Wednesday Erik knew he would be done with his route early and we could try to do the reveal. My friend Holly already had the ultrasound and the items she needed for it and luckily was able to take care of everything and drop it off to us that day even though it was last minute.

We loaded up the van and headed out to Logan Conservation which was a 50 minute drive. It was worth the drive, plus we all needed to get out of the house anyway. Erik knew he wanted to shoot something that exploded a color, either pink or blue, so that’s what we did. We attached the balloon to a canvas and it just kind of floated above it so Erik would be able to shoot it. I knew I wanted some sort of keepsake artwork for the baby’s room so before attaching the balloon I put glue all over it in hopes to “catch” some of the powder and it actually worked!

I was a little sad that we couldn’t do the reveal with family and friends around but having it just be the four of us worked out really well and ended up being perfect. Like I said earlier, I didn’t know how I would feel about waiting for a reveal but seeing the balloon explode with pink powder and Erik yelling out “it’s a girl!” was so special and I’m so glad we did it. So yes, it’s a GIRL!! We are all very excited!

Erik and I both wanted a girl and the boys both wanted a boy. At one point both boys wanted a girl and then they were split but decided they wanted a brother because we already had boy toys. Makes sense. Even though they are having a little sister instead of brother they are excited and can’t wait for her arrival. Luckily it was a girl because we already have her name picked out and that will be kept secret until she arrives. We didn’t have a boys name at all so it’s nice to know we don’t have to try and figure one out.

We are so excited to be able to start working on her room and getting it painted and organized.
