Our Baby Girl!

From the moment Erik and I found out we were going to have a baby we both hoped it would be a girl. We figured out her name before we knew for sure what we were having. We threw out a couple boy names but nothing we really liked or that was set in stone because we just really wanted a girl. Her name came quickly and easily though. Keeping her name a secret from everyone was the difficult part.

Evelynn Victoria Ann, it feels so good to type that out and share it with everyone. I knew after Erik vetoed the name I had always wanted for a girl that I wanted something that started with an E to go along with his name. He wanted to incorporate his mom and sister into the name somehow too. He unfortunately lost his sister when she was only 12 and his mom passed away when Erik was 18. Knowing he wanted them to be part of the name made it an easy choice to forget about the name I’ve always wanted. His mom was Vicki and both her and his sister, Jessica, had the middle name Lynn so Evelynn Victoria came pretty quickly to us. We added on Ann as another middle name because that is my moms middle name and we thought it all sounded well together. Plus, this little girl will have a similar upbringing as my mom. I know I’ve written about it before but my grandmother was widowed from her first husband and left with two small children, later met my grandpa and they had my mom. So interesting how mine and my grandmothers stories are so similar.

I’m so glad she’s here and we’re both healthy. This wasn’t the easiest pregnancy at all. At 20ish weeks I started having pelvic girdle pain which is something I didn’t have with the boys. It felt like she was just going to drop out of me even though she wasn’t big and I wasn’t even showing. I could definitely feel a difference with my RA and Lupus this time around, it wasn’t as severe as it could have been but I’m sure my age was a huge factor this pregnancy as well. One good thing about being high risk is that you get to see the baby all of the time. I had to have monitoring twice a week so got to see her often. I had to take the boys to several dr appts with me but the ones I couldn’t I had a sitter come to help. Dr appts/having a baby during covid times was definitely an experience. During the last 6 weeks of pregnancy Evelynn had the hiccups. It’s such a weird feeling. She had them at least once a day and sometimes more. She hated them and definitely let me know she was uncomfortable. The last 4 weeks of pregnancy I also had contractions. I had Braxton Hicks with the boys but these were different, every day, multiple times a day but nothing that progressed to anything, just made me uncomfortable. Now that she’s here she’s continued to have hiccups every day, multiple times a day. Poor thing hates the hiccups. Hoping that stops soon so she can be more comfortable.

We had a scheduled c section on Monday, September 14th at 38 weeks. The doctors wouldn’t let me go any longer because of my Lupus. I’m glad to say the c section itself went better than it did with the boys. They do things a little bit differently now than they did even just 7 years ago when Caleb was born. The recovery however is another story. It hasn’t been the easiest and my joint pain has been really high and lots of swelling. Now that we’re 1 week out I still can’t lay down to sleep but is getting better. We went home a day earlier than planned because I felt it’d be better and easier to recover more at home and it definitely has been. We’re so glad to be home and the boys absolutely love their little sister. They just can’t get enough of her and want to hold her all of the time. They are truly the best big brothers she could ever ask for. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for little Miss Evie.
