Wedding & Baptism

I spent this past weekend busy with a wedding and a baptism. Both happy things to celebrate especially after just attending a funeral. Yet there was still some sadness.

The wedding I attended was for Brandon and Meghan. If you don’t remember from one of my previous posts, I met them both last year. Brandon is a police officer that worked with Bob and I first met him when he was doing a shift at the hospital keeping an eye on Bob. Meghan is a nurse and I met her around the same time while Bob was in ICU. Not the circumstances I would have wanted to meet them but either way they’ve become good friends of mine. When looking at the wedding program I noticed at the bottom it said “in loving memory” and had both Bob and Blake which of course made me cry. They also donated to Backstoppers in lieu of wedding favors. Seriously, these two are such amazing selfless people. Meghan looked absolutely beautiful on Saturday and Brandon cleans up nicely. I was doing great, surrounded by friends (most from the 3rd Precinct) and then came the vows. I couldn’t help it but started to cry while they were reading them. In sickness and in health, until death do us part. I lost it but was trying to hide it. Next thing I know my friend Darren leans over to try and console me and then my friend Jessie moves down to sit by me and she consoles me. Someone also touched my shoulder but can’t remember who but if you guys are reading this, thank you! It meant a lot to me. The rest of the night was great and the most fun I’ve had in a while.

On Sunday was the Baptism for my nephew. Bob and I are the Godparents of his older siblings and Bob would have been his Godfather if he were here. He was born 2 days before Bob passed so Bob never got to meet him but he did get to see his picture and know he became an uncle again. This was pretty hard for me without Bob by my side but I’m so thankful to be his Godmother.
